College Guidance
While every faculty member shares in the responsibility of providing counseling to our students, we do provide a part-time counselor who will coordinate and be responsible for the more structured part of our guidance program.
The goal of the college counselor is to provide information and assistance to both students and parents concerning college applications, the readiness test, and scholarship information.
The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is administered annually at PHA to the ninth through eleventh grades. Scores reports are provided to students and parents along with an explanation.
Beginning in the spring of the tenth grade year, students are encouraged to take both the SAT and the ACT. Help is provided in registering for both of these, if needed.
Additionally, we provide assistance in the student’s college search in an effort to match him or her to a college or university that best his or her their needs.  Financial aid information is also provided to both the student and the parents in an effort to make their transition to the next education easier.
